Discover the best Tivat boat tours. Choose from fun group tours to luxury private tours to make your stay in Tivat truly unforgettable!

Tivat is a great place to stay on the coast of Montenegro. It’s right on the sea, has excellent restaurants and nightlife and it’s easy to get anywhere from Tivat’s central location.

And one of the best things to do from Tivat is a boat tour. There’s a lot of fascinating history and natural beauty you can reach on even a short Tivat boat trip.

Perast, Our Lady of the Rocks and the Blue Cave are the most popular must-sees. But you can also visit submarine tunnels, swim around St Marko Island and visit towns like Kotor and Herceg Novi.

And if you’re wondering if they’re family-friendly, yes they are! Kids of all ages absolutely love riding in a boat and it’s one of the easiest and most-comfortable tour options for older people too.

Now, while you will find boat tours from Tivat, you don’t have the same choice as you do from Kotor because it’s not as busy.

Aside from one good-quality group tour that has a pick-up in Tivat, the other tours are private tours or like this large group tour that is cheap, but offers a disappointing experience, especially if you board in Tivat which means you miss out on the stop in Kotor.

If you’re looking for a reasonably-priced group tour, I recommend booking a Kotor boat tour and starting your boat tour from there instead. You’ll find group boat tours from Kotor starting from around €40 per person and Kotor is only 11km (7 miles) from Tivat.

But if you’re looking for a great boat tour from Tivat, look no further. Here, you’ll find Tivat boat trips starting from 1 hour to all day and some are completely customisable.

Let’s find your perfect Tivat boat tour!

Best Tivat Boat Tours

1. Blue Cave, Our Lady of the Rocks and Submarine Bunkers Boat Tour from Tivat

Blue Cave MontenegroThe Blue Cave is a must-see attraction in Montenegro!

RATING: 5/5 (7+ reviews) | DURATION: 3 hours | BOOK NOW

This tour takes you to the Bay of Kotor’s most popular attractions:

  • Blue Cave
  • Our Lady of the Rocks
  • Submarine bunkers

The Blue Cave is a stunning sea cave just outside the entrance of the Bay of Kotor in the Adriatic Sea. The sunlight reflects off the sandy bottom of the shallow cave and creates a luminescent blue light that fills the cave, which is how it got its name.

The only way to get to the Blue Cave is by boat and you can swim in the cave when you get there. The water is super clear and this is one of the most popular places to visit from the Bay of Kotor.

Our Lady of the rocks is another of the bay’s most popular attractions. This island church is over 500 years old and is a testament to Boka’s seafaring past. The church also has a museum, which is a fascinating place to see artifacts from the bay that date all the way back to the Prehistoric era.

Kotor Bay’s submarine tunnels are from a more recent time. The two tunnels near the entrance to the bay were used to hide submarines when Montenegro was part of Yugoslavia.

This private Tivat boat tour is suitable for groups of up to 10 people and is completely customisable. The price for this tour starts at €350 per group and you can extend the tour up to 8 hours and add waterskiing, picnic baskets and beach towels on request. Snorkelling equipment is included free of charge.

This tour is run by Tivat residents, Mirna and Peter, who take fantastic care of their guests!

"Lovely people giving a stunning waterview of Porto Montenegro, Kotor, the Blue Cave, the submarine caves and much more. We even saw dolphins! A great way to explore Montenegro by water. Just do it. You will not regret it."

2. Boka Bay Day Cruise

RATING: 4.8/5 (305+ reviews) | DURATION: 8 hours | BOOK NOW

This day cruise is the most popular day cruise in Kotor Bay and sells out consistently in summer. It departs from Kotor, but they will pick you up in Tivat and drive you to Kotor to join it from there so you don't miss anything.

This is the ideal Tivat boat tour if you’re looking for a fun small group tour. The catamaran tour includes visits to the must-sees: the Blue Cave and Our Lady of the Rocks.

Along the way you take a cruise around Mamula Island, the former island prison turned luxury hotel.

It also includes a stop at Porto Montenegro, the world’s only platinum rated marina where you can take a look at some of the world’s best super yachts, grab a cone of gelato and wander the marina’s village.

I love that this tour includes lots of swimming stops, it’s the ideal day tour for summer in the bay!

If you’re looking for a fun day out on a boat, look no further than the Boka Bay Day Cruise!

“Great tour from start to finish, Nina was an excellent guide, was very knowledgeable about the history and she set a great atmosphere right from the get go with everyone present. They went out of their way to pick us up near our hotel even when it was not the actual pick up point. We got lucky and managed to see dolphins and the captain agreed to stop and we had an extra swim near we’re the dolphins were. Highly recommended.”

“Enjoyed every minute of our boat trip. The scenery was magnificent and our Skipper Ben was so knowledgeable about the area. Took us to the best parts and historical places. The boat was very comfortable and Ben helped us in and out with no problems for a group of very late 70’s and 80’s 🤣”
